The local Council and Police and Crime Commissioner elections have been postponed due to current threat from restrictions relating to Covid-19. These elections are now scheduled to take place on Thursday 6 May 2021. Local Councillors and the current South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner will remain in post. The emergency legislation also prevents any by-election occurring prior to May 2021.
Whilst existing candidates selections will be carried forward, a number of Councillor candidates cannot now commit to standing next year.
